TPG History


Transaction Printer Group (TPG)
With our roots based in NCR and Axiohm, TPG has been the technology leader within the transaction printing industry for more than 30 years.

Below is a brief overview of our history, including several notable accomplishments. The same core team of engineers and product designers that revolutionized the transaction printer business continues to lead the way with innovations to better serve our customers. Company/Product History:

1972:
NCR moves the design and production of its thermal printer products to its Ithaca, NY facility. This facility was already producing impact printers.

1995:
NCR sells the Ithaca printer business to Axiohm.

1999:
Axiohm is reorganized; control shifts to private equity owners under ATSI Holdings, Inc.

2003:
ATSI sells its French subsidiary (Axiohm SAS) to local management who retains the Axiohm brand. The Ithaca printer business remains a part of ATSI and is named Transaction Printer Group (TPG).

2006 and Beyond:
TPG continues to provide the proven printers shown below and offers innovative business solutions to its customers worldwide.

1970’s – 1990’s:
The Ithaca operation produces such landmark products as: The ANSWER printer, delivering shuttle printhead and line-dot printing technology, the industry’s first MICR-reading hybrid printer, the 7156 and the 7193 thermal single station printer.

1995-2003:
Axiohm introduces the A794 single station and A758 hybrid printers… and the industry’s first two-color thermal ColorPOS®  technology printers, the A795 single station and  A760 hybrid.

2003:
LogoEZ® and ReceiptEZ™ utilities change the face and purpose of receipts.

2004:
TPG releases the smallest footprint, most versatile and first field upgradeable imaging hybrid printer, the A776/B780.

2006:
TPG introduces ReceiptWare™ that turns every transaction into a marketing opportunity.
