The new Advantage DLX redefines
desktop printer performance.

Cognitive printers are known for their exceptional ruggedness, reliability, and durability. The new Advantage DLX continues to build on this reputation and adds unsurpassed print and first label out speeds, a full suite of communication options including USB (standard on all printers), and easy integration with ERP and legacy installations.

“The DLX printer is the most powerful and rugged desktop printer on the market today,” said Barry Knott, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for ATSI Holdings. “It’s a great value for those who demand reliable performance from their label printer for years to come.”

The Advantage DLX printers are rugged enough to withstand the harshest environments, elegant and compact enough to meet the requirements of the healthcare market, and smart enough to work in stand-alone applications without the need for a PC.

Printer Commands & Controls
Cognitive’s Advantage DLX printers offer two print language commands emulations, allowing for greater flexibility in set-up, installation, and execution.

  • CPL (Cognitive Programming Language): is printable-ASCII Word based and line-oriented PDL, command and control language for all Cognitive printers.  A typical print image definition formatted in CPL is composed of;  1) A Header line – defining the size and number of copies to print,  2) Various Text and Graphic Element commands lines – specifying fonts, sizes and placement of these printable image components, and  3) An End statement – instructing the Print Engine to run and create the image on printable media.

Emulations
Cognitive C Series printers offer the ability to process other barcode manufacturers' PDLs (Page (or Print) Description Languages).  The standard name given to this mixed processing of other command printing languages is called Emulations. Depending on the printer’s software architecture, the native Printer Language interpreter may be temporarily replaced with another printer company’s interpreter function or ‘emulation’.

EcPL (Eltron Printer Language Emulation): is primarily a printable-ASCII based and line-oriented PDL, command and control language for some of Zebra’s (previously Eltron) printer models.  Each line of EPL typically begins with a single character or double character pair followed by command associated parameters to represent a particular print imaging operation.

USB-A Host Capabilities
Using the USB A Host drive, the Advantage DLX printer is capable of hosting a wide variety of devices as well as offering easy to use updates and stored formats.

USB-A HID Class Communications
Connect via the USB-A port with a scanner, keyboard or keypad.

By connecting to the USB-A port, you now have a stand alone solution without the need for a computer. This is ideal for mobile applications or where you have limited space.

USB to Memory Stick Communications
Use the USB A port with a memory stick to:

  • Store printer configurations
  • Load new fonts
  • Set printer parameters such as print speed, darkness, etc.
  • Upgrade the printer’s firmware

When the USB drive is plugged into the printer, the printer sees it as a memory store and automatically recognizes its commands.
